Electronics & Communication Engineering
(Bachelor of Engineering)
E-Convergence has already led to a sea change in the communication technology and major innovations in financial transactions in Commerce & Information Technology.
Communication can now be very quickly established at remote places using VSAT'S/INMARSAT'S etc. With the liberalization of the Govt. policies on communications, more and more facilities like OFC, WLL etc. are being added to the existing media. Needless to say, a communication engineer would find tremendous scope of work and challenge in the field of communication in near future. Also, a student of Communication Engineering would have to shoulder greater responsibilities and would be expected to have wider knowledge of fast changing technologies and their applications. To fulfil this aim, the Electronics & Communication Department has an extremely capable faculty having rich, wide and varied practical experience in the fields of Microwave Communication, Satellite Communication, Radar, Optical Communication and Electronics including VLSI Design.
The Satellite Lab at the College is equipped with four satellite-training systems and is one of the best labs under the M.D. University. The Microwave Lab has six ready-to-use sets of Microwave Test benches and conducts experiments on frequency and power measurement and conducts studies on the radiation pattern of various types of antennas.
The Communication Lab is well equipped with signal generators, oscilloscopes and experimental kits to conduct experiments on Amplitude, Frequency, and Phase modulation / demodulation as well as Amplitude, Frequency and Phase shift keying etc.
The Department also has well equipped optical fiber communication lab to help the students study data transmission through optical fiber. The PCB lab provides a platform for the students to study PCB designing. The department has Simulation lab to help the students to study and analyze analog and digital circuits using P-Spice, TANNER Pro for VLSI Design (Schematics, Simulation, Layout Synthesis etc.) etc.
State of the art laboratories namely: Micro-controller, Digital System Design and VHDL, Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Satellite communication and Optical fibre Communication have been conceived and are being processed for upgrading and augmenting facilities in the existing laboratories. This will enable the students to look beyond the undergraduate courses and will also cater to the need of M.Tech. and research projects in the ECE department.
Commensurate library facilities have also been added to cater to the needs of M.Tech. and P.G. Projects.
Job opportunities are available in the following areas: Junior/ Apprentice Engineer in the field of Telecommunications in Electronic Industry Resource Centers, in the areas of Switching and Chip Designing, IT enabled services, Sales and Marketing, Teaching, Embedded System Technology, Wireless Data Communication, VLSI Design.
Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
(Bachelor of Engineering)
The department was established in 1998 to run the four year BE Program in Instrumentation & Control Engg. (ICE), thereafter in 2001 the nomenclature was changed to Electronics & Instrumentation Engg. From 2004, the department also conducts M. Tech Program in Instrumentation & Control Engg.
The Instrumentation and Control Engineering has gained a lot of importance because of the rapid growth as well as amalgamation of software and computers in the field of test and measurement (T&M). There is hardly any field, may it be electrical, electronics, and medical or meteorological, which is not using Instrumentation and Control System extensively. Consequently, it has become of paramount importance for the students of Instrumentation and Control Engineering to gain versatile and in-depth knowledge in this field.
In order to meet this challenging task, the College has the state-of-the-art Labs for Electrical Measurement & Instrumentation as well as for Analog and Digital Process Control.
Instrumentation & Control labs have almost all types of transducers and interfaces for comparative study of characteristics to help students in the selection of transducers under different industrial processing environments. The labs also provide facilities for different types of measuring bridges.
The Department has an independent lab for microprocessor based instrumentation for the measurement of physical quantities such as displacement, pressure levels, temperature, etc. The students are required to perform minor and major projects on microprocessor-based instrumentation and controls. Sufficient number of microprocessor kits (Intel 8085 and 8086 based), micro controller kits, microcomputers and Intel Pentium III based computers are available.
Control System and Process Control labs are used for imparting training on conventional control methods. Besides these, the lab has microcomputer based closed loop PI & PID process control setup and pneumatic servo control system kits. The setup in these labs facilitates higher studies and research in Instrumentation and Control Engineering as well as in the field of Electrical Engineering.
With the approval of AICTE, Govt. of Haryana, the M.Tech. Programme in Instrumentation & Control Engg.. has been started from the session 2004-2005. M.D. University, Rohtak has given affiliation to this programme. For running M.Tech. Programme efficiently with quality education, the department has adequate dedicated faculty with 2 Ph.D degree and 4 M.Tech. degree holders. The Deptt. Has also got the recognition through one of our B.E. student securing top position and gold medal in the year 2002.
In near future, the college targets to establish a research centre in Instrumentation. The College is also a member of Instrumentation Society of India, at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The deptt is very well placed in respect of job opportunities in all Process Industries, Bio-medical Instrumentation, Research and Development and all Industries opting for automation.
Faculty members from Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Information Technology (IT) Departments have developed and delivered industrial project entitled " Automatic Visual Inspection System (AVIS) " for calibration of Fuel Gauge.
Project Team:
- Mr. R.B.Dubey (Asstt. Professor, Deptt of ICE)
- Ms. Dipali Bansal (Asstt. Professor, Deptt. of ECE)
- Mr. A.K.Dubey (Lecturer, Deptt. of ICE)
- Mr. Manpreet Singh Sehgal (Lecturer, Deptt. of IT)
The working of the project has been demonstrated to its sponsors M/S Indication Instruments Pvt. Ltd. Faridabad and the product is now in the process of technology transfer to its sponsors. The Project Team has used state-of-the-art technology and software tools-MATLAB to evolve cost effective solution.
